Welcome to the August 2005 issue of Pivotal Insights. In late June, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report (GAO-05-812R) on poor performers in the federal workforce, which addresses key issues in poor performance management in the federal government. While the report provides some solid advice for managing poor performers, it misses out on essential tactics for managing for improvement, rather than simply for removal. In this issue, we also address topics in other Pivotal Domain areas, Program Management, Human Capital Management, and Acquisition.
We are a business research and intelligence firm providing executives with perspective and information about government. Through our newsletter, free reports and subscription services, we shine a spotlight on government's complex decisions to reduce their inherent risk, save valuable taxpayers' dollars, and create more agile government.
If you believe that there is an important topic that we are not addressing, or if the focus of our newsletter is not on target, please let us know.
