On May 13, 2005, the Department of Defense (DoD) forwarded its recommendations for military installation closures and significant changes to the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission. The recommendations, which include 33 major base closures, 29 major base realignments, and 775 minor closures and realignments, contain the most sweeping changes of any of the previous base closures.
